Andrew is a 4th year pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. His plan for ISPE is to develop it further by giving students more access to information and interaction with biotech/pharmaceutical companies. After graduating, he plans to go into the biotech industry as a process engineer to gain experience before going to graduate school. His hobbies include basketball and tennis.

External Vice President: Merijoyce Alora
Merijoyce is a 4th year pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. ISPE interested her because of its specific goal to help students get into their desired biotechnology/pharmaceutical career. ISPE exposes students to the companies that catch their interests and passions. She wants to be able to share ISPE's values with many other students who do not know such a partnership of biology, medicine, sustainability, and engineering exists. She plans to use her degree to bring sustainable medical equipment and resources to under-developed countries. She is fun-loving, approachable, and loves to lead and work in teams. Take her out to a delicious dessert place or korean bbq and you will get along!

Internal Vice President: Alan Nguyen
Alan is a 4th year pursuing a degree in bioengineering. He joined ISPE because it provided him with the perfect opportunity to gain more insight into the biotech field. His goal for ISPE is to continure providing opportunities to help others identify what their interests are. Upon graduating, he plans to attend graduate school to pursue a career in biomaterials and tissue engineering research. Outside of ISPE, he enjoys designing yearbook layouts, volunteering, experimenting with photography, and learning new things.

Secretary: Kevin Li
Kevin Li is a 3rd year chemical engineering major at UCLA (taking the biomolecular track). He hopes to work as a pharmaceutical engineer after graduation, developing biomedical drugs or devices. However, graduate school in pursuit of a PhD. is another option in mind. Kevin joined ISPE to better understand the biotech and pharmaceutical industries from a student’s perspective. He wants to discover the different ways in which students can be involved in preparing for life after graduation, and entering a professional career. From all the knowledge and resources that ISPE beholds, Kevin hopes to make every effort to encourage enthusiasm and motivation to maintain a positive environment for the UCLA ISPE community. In his free time, Kevin’s absolute favorite thing to do is play basketball. He is passionate about the NBA and stays updated on standings and games. Kevin also plays the acoustic guitar often, and tries to learn new songs when he gets the chance.

Treasurer: Mit Patel
Mit is a 4th year pursuing a degree in bioengineering. Mit joined ISPE to learn more about industrial research and development and to gain perspective on the career options available for a bioengineer. He wants to spread the wealth of opportunities provided by ISPE to all students here at UCLA. In the future, Mit plans on pursuing a career in medicine and applying what he has learned as a bioengineer to develop innovative medical equipment. His hobbies include going to the beach, camping, and spending time with friends.

Publicity Chair: Moon Seok (David) Choi
David Choi is a 3rd year pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. He hopes to make ISPE into a club where people with similar interests and career goals can help each other grow and achieve their research and industry goals. For him, ISPE has given him an insight to career options open to me in the future. Upon graduating, he would like to go into the biomedical industry to gain further experience before going back to school. He enjoys playing basketball, catching up on 9gag, sleeping, and... more sleeping.

Marco is a 3rd year pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. He hopes to network with companies as well as learn how to become a more marketable employee. He does research in the molecular and medical pharmacology department analyzing the chemical composition and toxicity of air pollution.

Rebecca Chen is a 2nd year pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. She hopes to provide students with pharmaceutical opportunities in industries of their interest, and similarly, to introduce industries to passionate, capable candidates. She also wants to build lasting relationships within the community, creating a forum for students to discuss similar interests in biotechnology. Additionally, she wants to learn as much from the experienced board members as she can to better improve and serve the ISPE community. She loves music! She is down for composing, playing jazz, or karaoke-ing anytime!

S. M. Taha Husain is a 4th year pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. He joined ISPE because of its interactive role with its members and many biotech industries. He hopes to advance these relationships in the upcoming year by organizing events that benefits its members. After graduation, he desires to get into pharmaceutical industry, where he can help in creating drugs and devices that would help people in need. He enjoys playing sports, such as basketball, tennis, and ping pong, and of course hanging out with friends in his free time.

Edwin Chen is a 3rd year pursuing a degree in bioengineering. He joined ISPE to gain direct exposure to the biotech and pharmaceutical fields, as well to engage in and befriend a community of students with like academic and professional interests. He hopes to help enhance what each individual member gets out of ISPE and contribute to building a name for the Society both on campus and off. Upon graduating, he plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career in industry improving human health around the world. He enjoys being active in his church, reading good books, playing volleyball, tennis and basketball, and being fascinated by the complexity of living systems.

Shayan Aftab is a 3rd year pursuing a degree in bioengineering. He joined ISPE to become more aware of the different opportunities available in the biotech industry. After graduating, Shayan plans to either go to graduate school or into industry and work at a biotech company to create therapeutic drugs or medical devices in order to help people. He is currently involved in a research project in the bioengineering department dealing with internalization and movement of magnetic nanoparticles in cancer cells to create localized reactions. His hobbies include listening to music, playing guitar, following football and basketball, and watching an unhealthy number of TV shows.

Lauren is a 3rd year pursuing a degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. In lieu of finalizing her career path, she joined ISPE to become more informed about pharmaceutical industry. Through ISPE, she hopes to offer exposure to the career and knowledge of the appropriate undergraduate preparations to all interested students. After graduating, she aspires to further health care either through developing new pharmaceutical therapies or working as a physician assistant. She nurtures a passion for helping people. Outside of ISPE, she enjoys volunteering, cooking, and spending quality time with loved ones.

Laura is a first year biochemistry major who first joined ISPE because of the friendly officers and the club's pharmacy-oriented goals. After graduation, Laura plans to attend pharmacy school and then work at a pharmacy company developing new drugs to help others. Committee Member: Vish Ramesh
Vish is a 2nd year pursuing a degree in bioengineering. He has been an active member of ISPE since his first year and has picked up valuable information about résumés, research, interviews, and working in industry. Through the club, he hopes to influence younger students so that they similarly become more knowledgeable about life after undergraduate college, and come to appreciate the benefits of ISPE as much as he does. Vish plans to follow a Ph.D. program in graduate school and continue his research in the neuroscience and stem cell fields. His hobbies include reading novels, reading comics, watching movies, listening to music, and loitering in malls with his friends.

Angela is a 3rd year pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. Angela joined ISPE to learn more about the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Her goal is to provide medical assistance to those who need it, by developing medical devices or drugs. Angela hopes to help other students at UCLA achieve their goals of working in these industries and expose them to many career opportunities. Upon graduating, she wants to gain work experience in the industry before going to graduate school. In her free time, Angela likes to bake, eat dessert, spend time with her friends, and explore new landmarks.
